Our Field Capabilities

Soil Vapor & Methane Testing

In a coordinated effort, the Department of Toxic Substances Control, the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board, and the San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board have jointly developed the Advisory – Active Soil Gas Investigations. This document attempts to ensure that high quality data used for regulatory decision making is collected during active soil gas investigations using consistent methodologies.

Although this advisory is not yet a regulatory requirement, it’s likely that a soil gas investigation not conducted in accordance with the state-of-the-art technology presented in the advisory will not be accepted by these three agencies. JREM has incorporated the guidelines set forth in the advisory as our standard soil vapor well installation protocols.

JREM has also become intimately familiar with the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety’s Site Testing Standards for Methane. We’ve conducted many methane surveys under these guidelines and are fully aware of its specific instrumentation and implementation. We have even educated our clients on occasion regarding ways to conduct a large-scale methane survey with minimal remobilization, thus gladly passing the savings on to them.

Well Protection Services

Settling aprons, unsecured well box lids, and lost, broken or stripped bolts can impact the integrity of your soil vapor and groundwater wells. They can also create risky health and safety conditions.

JREM has seen and worked with it all and our crews take care to ensure your well boxes are properly installed and we can help you repair broken well boxes that impede your sampling efforts. We’re also ready when a project completes to remove well boxes and help you put the finishing touches on a successful remediation project.

JREM can also provide the installation of durable above ground well monuments designed to ensure long-term visibility and protection of wellheads. Our team also provides expert installation of protective bollards around sensitive above ground structures.
